授業概要 / Class Description This course is a continuation of topics covered in English Workshop A. However, students do not need to take Workshop A prior to taking Workshop B. As with English Workshop A, some lesson is English Workshop B may be scheduled outside of the classroom. The workshop approach brings an array of different learning methods, activities, tasks and presentations in a student-centered environment. Students will build on the English skills students acquired in a student's freshman and sophomore years. Students will utilize all four language skills (reading, writing, listening and speaking) for class activities. This is a topic based course with an emphasis to compare other cultures to the student's own culture. The curriculum of the lessons is the same for both online classes and face-to-face classes on campus.
到達目標 / Goal The goal this class is for students to improve communicating effectively in a situation everyday situations. in English. Students will expand their communicative skills in real world problem-solving situations in contrast and compare language learning tasks. Presentations will give students the opportunity to express their thoughts about family, friends, free time, likes and dislikes etc. The students will acquire the skills necessary to: 1. actively use vocabulary and phrase structures presented in each topic, 2. participate in conversations related to real-world topics, 3. compare and express other real-world cultures to their own culture, 4. make short presentations of each theme using PowerPoint, Google Jam Board or a similar applications.

第5回Topic: Comparing subjects / Communicative Skill: Discussing school and classes
第6回Reading & Writing Skill: Writing and completing a questionnaire / Listening Skill: Mixed sounds
第7回Review & Presentation: Students will give presentations reviewing one of the topics covered in Lessons 1-6
第8回Topic: Talking about diets and food / Communicative Skill: How to follow and give instructions
第9回Reading & Writing Skill: Describing health routine / Listening Skill: Linking sounds
第10回Topic: Money and shopping / Communicative Skill: Suggesting things to buy and good prices
第11回Reading & Writing Skill: Explaining advertisements and commercial messages / Listening Skill: Weak forms in numbers and prices
第12回Topic: Asking and giving advice / Communicative Skill: Starting a conversation
第13回Reading & Writing Skill: Writing a personal description of friend or a famous person / Listening Skill: Linking sounds
第14回Review & Presentation: Students will give presentations reviewing one of the topics covered in Lessons 8-13
授業形式 / Teaching Method 本講義は原則として英語で行う。This is an active learning workshop, which involves student-centered pair and group work tasks and activities.

評価の基準:授業態度40%、プレステーション20%、課題40%
