授業概要 / Class Description Beginning by challenging what “media” is in our ever-changing times, this class proposes that beyond conventional magazines and digital social media, the fashion runway, urban space, virtual worlds, and even algorithms are media and should be analyzed from this stance. It then proposes that all means of self-expression, including fashion, actually represents the power structures that govern our world, and that we must understand that in order to craft compelling new stories.

At the core of self-expression in media is the concept of interviews, and these will be explored from various perspectives.
到達目標 / Goal - Challenge outdated notions of media and equip students with the skills to grasp media from a theoretical perspective.
- Consider the intersecting cultural and power dynamics that inform media and what these forces represent.
- A section of each class will introduce interview methodology.
実務経験 / Business Experience Over a decade of experience as Fashion Editor for the Japan Times Newspaper and contributor to fashion coverage to various publications. Experience as Tokyo Editor-in-Chief for a global fashion TV network. Appointed Brand Advisor for JTB. Consultant client list includes Isetan Mitsukoshi, Cabinet Office, JETRO, MOFA, JNTO, JTA, Ministry of Environment and other major public and private sector groups.
