授業概要 / Class Description This course is taught by a native-speaker in English. The class is designed to help students prepare for the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). The TOEFL is a requirement for students planning to study abroad at a university of other higher-education institutions. Because the TOEFL is a theme oriented four-skills test, this class is designed to improve the student’s Speaking, Writing, Reading and Listening skills, Therefore, the class structured as a theme-centered study cycle of Reading, Listening, Speaking and Writing. Additionally, to prepare for the TOEFL a student needs to understand and use around 10,000 words. Each class will introduce TOEFL vocabulary building through etymology and practical usage. This course is conducted in English, by a native-language speaker. Depending on the situation, lessons may be conducted online or on campus (face-to-face). The same core curriculum will be maintained in both situations.
到達目標 / Goal Beyond introducing students to the TOEFL examination format, this class will provide essential TOEFL vocabulary and grammar structures. Students will learn useful tips and test-taking strategies, to help improve their test score. Students will acquire essential TOEFL vocabulary and the special use of idioms, in addition to improving their grammar awareness. Furthermore, students will discover some necessary skills to help them prepare for university life abroad by discussing the experiences of student life abroad.

評価の基準:授業態度30%、宿題30%、授業課題とテスト40%

準備学習 / Preliminary study 英語圏の大学への留学の夢をかなえるために,毎回の授業にのぞむにあたり前後の予習・復習を習慣づけることを望む。不明な語句は必ず辞書で調べて授業に臨む。
