授業概要 / Class Description Each week an article of clothing is chosen for students to take part in giving an oral description of the design, garment care, and pairings i.e. coordinated with attire. This exercise is to accelerate their confidence in presentation skills and is conducted within the first fraction of the class, prior to the weekly reading and writing curriculum.
The second quarter of the class is carried out with grammar focus, supported by the course text and guidebooks or materials provided.
Finally the class concludes with role-play a dialogue context relevant to fashion.
到達目標 / Goal This course aims to develop the students’ range of vocabulary, grammar, listening comprehension, and communications skills used in our global industry of fashion today.
The fashion English (online & face to face) sessions enables students to better communicate their design process, business needs, and describe the changing trends within the fashion world.

内容
第1回Introduction - The course begins with self-introduction as students and the instructor converse on topics related to their background, daily regiments and attire descriptions, implementing grammar and technical vocabulary based on each topic.

Apparel description: The students verbally describe their coordinated attire.

Grammar focus: Q & A (questions and answers)
Present tense (simple & continuous)

Dialogue context: “In the classroom” & “On the way to school”
第2回Direction & Location - The second week concentrates on listening and applying speech sequence skills on the topics of commute, transportation and position of objects within their peripheral vision.

Garment Description: A collared shirt - The students are to describe a collared shirt of preference incorporating design details and garments paired i.e. coordinated with.

Grammar Focus: Sequence (i.e. order method) & Prepositions

Dialogue Context: “At the station” & “In the living room”
第3回Article of Clothing - This segment focuses on identifying garments, accessories, and recognizing its placement on the area of the body.

Garment description: Skirts - The students are to verbally give descriptive details on the fabric, hem length, shape, and brand identity or pairing.

Grammar focus: Irregular verb forms- (present, past, past participle)
Vocabulary spelling

Dialogue context: “At the gym”
第4回Solids & Prints - This part of the course puts an emphasis on vocabulary terms for colors, texture, and patterns applied to fabric/material for apparel and accessories.

Garment description: Trousers i.e. Pants - The students are to give an oral or written description of the cut, length, fabric, and coordinate them with a pair of shoes.

Grammar focus: Simple Future Tense (will & going to)

Dialogue context: “In the cafeteria”
第5回Size, Silhouettes, & Shapes - This fraction of the course targets vocabulary relating to variations of the body frame/figure outline, and measurements of garment construction.

Apparel description: A Dress - The students are to verbally describe the fabric, dress shape i.e silhouette, and brand identity or coordinated garments.

Grammar focus: Comparative & Superlative Adjectives

Dialogue Context: “On the train”
第6回Pictograms & Garment care – This unit distinguishes laundry labels for allowable treatments by appropriate instructions, constructed materials, and temperature settings.

Garment description: A Sweater/Pullover - The students are to deliver detailed descriptions of knitwear, or material used, and instructs the garment care.

Grammar Focus: Irregular verb forms (present, past participle, meanings)

Dialogue Context “At a boutique”
第7回Garment placements & Body structure – This part of the course is focused to identify the regions of the body and position the article of clothing in its appropirate area.

Garment description: Seasonal Accessories - The students are to verbally describe an accessory of choice and pairings with desired garments.

Grammar Focus: Prepositional phrases

Dialogue Context: “At a pharmacy”
第8回Dressing for an Occasion or Purpose - This unit introduces various ways of dressing and combining clothing items in a formal or casual manner.

Attire description: An Outfit - Students will verbally explain a set of clothes coordinated together for a particular occasion or purpose.

Grammar Focus: Adjectives (-ed & -ing endings) & Phrasal verbs

Dialogue Context: “In a lingerie department”
第9回Trends & Styles - This session categorizes basic looks, unique styles to trending concepts. The students address their ideas, and perspectives on traditional and modern appearances.

Garment description: Trending garments or sustainable, recycled, or upcycled products
- The students voice and share their concept during this period.

Grammar focus: Adjectives & Vocabulary definitions (sustainable, upcycle, repurpose, reuse, recycle)

第10回Hairdressings & Facial features - This segment proceeds with identifying depictions of prominent parts of the face, head, and distinctive hairstyle classifications.

Garment description: Decorative hair accessories - The students are to give a verbal description of an accessory coordinated with hairdo or outfit.

Grammar focus: Phrasal verbs & Idioms

Dialogue context: “At a hairdresser”
第11回Fashion show – This session highlights communications amongst the dressers and models in preparation for a fashion event.

Garment description 1: The students may choose to describe their Final Project, implementing the theme and occasion to exhibit them.

Garment description 2: Students may also choose any type of Outerwear and describe its form and fuction.

Grammar focus: Conjunctions

Dialogue context: “A press interview”
第12回Sewing Materials & Garment Creation - This unit concentrates on identifying basic sewing tools, machines, materials used, label clothing parts, and alteration procedures.

Garment description: Trousers/Pants – The students are to give a verbal description of the type of cut, length, fabric, and garment pairings.

Grammar focus : Verbs & Action verbs

Dialogue context: “On the phone”
第13回Displays & Retail - This portion of the course is centered on client negotioations and retail communications within customer service i.e. in a shop setting or telecommunications.

Garment description: Bags – The students deliver descriptive details on a type of bag e.g. cross body, messenger, tote; they possess or desire with brand identity and garment styling.

Grammar focus: Phrasal verbs & Conjunction review

Dialogue context: “At a boutique”
第14回Purchasing Merchandise – This final segment approches phonetic enunciation relating to financial definitions, and numerically compute item costs in international currencies.

Garment description: The students are to describe a garment of preference and state their payment choice and location of purchase.

Grammar focus: Vocabulary & Grammar review resonating to fashion
